ABHA QATAR and TEHAMA BALLALINA emerged as the Stallions and Mares champion respectively after three days of competition in the 26th Qatar International Arabian Horse Show, which concluded on Sunday, at the Indoor Arena of Al Shaqab.
On Sunday, HH Prince Abdullah Bin Fahad Al Saud owned Abha Qatar impressed the judges enough to win the gold ahead of Al Shahania Stud’s EKS MANSOUR and Al Naseem Stud’s MUNTASSER AL ZOBAIR.
Sheikh Abdulla Bin Mohammed Ali Al Thani owned Tehama Ballalina, winner of Class 9 for Mares, 11yo and over on the second day of the competition, won gold among the mares.
Al Nasser Stud’s FARIDA AL NASSER, the winner of Class 8 for 7-10yo mares, edged out FARAH AL SHAQAB, the Class 7 (4-6yo mares) topper, for silver in the championship round on Sunday.
Among the youngsters, Al Shaqab won three golds.
MEDAN AL SHAQAB, who had made it through to the championship rounds after a second place in class 5 for 2yo Colts behind Aali Farid, won gold among Junior Colts, with top two in Class 6 for 3yo Colts - MOAID AL SHAQAB and SHARAF AL SHAHANIA - picked up silver and bronze respectively.
Top three horses in class 4B for Yearling Colts, won the championship round in that order, with HAGRAS AL SHAQAB topping the round, while Al Muawd Stud's GENERAL and Abdullatif Ahmad Alkandari's SAFWAN NAYAAR completing the podium.
Gold among the Yearling Fillies went to Class 1B topper, HADBA AL SHAQAB, while 1C winner HAIFA ED, owned by Abdul Aziz Ibrahim Abdul Aziz Al Bargash, and Al Nasser Stud's HATTAN AL NASSER, second in class 1B, won silver and bronze respectively.
Alkhashab Stud's MALIKAT AL MOLUK, who had won class 3B for 3yo Fillies, topped the Junior Fillies Championship Round, with winners from classes 2B and 2A - MADEEHA AL SHAQAB and SAFIAT AL SHAQAB - taking silver and bronze respectively.
