Al Shaqab fillies impress on day one

Al Shaqab's fillies topped five out of seven categories on the first day of the 26th Qatar International Arabian Horse Show at the Indoor Arena, Al Shaqab, on Friday.

Mawada Al Shaqab and Hadba Al Shaqab topped 1A and 1B categories for Yearling Fillies, Safiat Al Shaqab and Madeeha Al Shaqab swept the two categories for 2yo fillies. Wahat Al Shaqab did enough to win one of the two categories for 3yo fillies.

While Mawada Al Shaqab amassed 91.6 points in category 1A, Adwaa Am, owned by HH Prince Abdullah Bin Fahad Al Saud, and Al Shaqab owned Jabbara Al Shaqab were locked in for a battle of second spot. Having earned 1.5 points more for Moves earned Adwaa Am the second spot.

Hadba Al Shaqab earned 92.1 points for the 1B win, while Hattan Al Nasser (91.8) and Ebaa Athabh (91.5) finished second and third place respectively.

There was more drama in 1C as Haifa Ed, owned by Abdul Aziz Ibrahim Abdul Aziz Al Bargash, and Amalya Alkhawaled, owned by Alkhawaled Stud, were locked in at 91.4. Armed with half a points more for Type, Haifa Ed topped the category, while Lolwah Al Sawary (90.9), owned by Sheikh Abdulmohsen Bin Abdulmalek Al Sheikh, finished third.

In category 2A for 2yo Fillies, Safiat Al Shaqab amassed 92.1 points for a win, while Anwar Al Shahaniya and Al Jood Alnaif were second and third with 91.8 and 91.1 points respectively.

Category 2B saw Al Shaqab owned fillies lock the top two spots with Madeeha Al Shaqab impressing the six judges enough to be awarded 92.1 points for the win, while Menwah Al Shaqab was given 91.9 pointsto finish narrowly ahead of Bazghah Athabh (91.8), owned by HRH Prince Abdulaziz Bin Ahmed Bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud.

Wahat Al Shaqab was a comfortable winner of 3A for 3yo Fillies with 92.0 points, while Al Nawader Stud's D Leyanah was awarded 91.1 points finished second ahead of Elyndora (90.6), owned by Mohammed Bin Dylim Bin Mesbaq Al Otaibi.

The horse show will conclude on March 12, 2017.
