France Galop validated the first forfeits for the Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe (Gr1) on Monday morning. They are still 20, knowing that Enable (Nathaniel) should be supplemented on Wednesday when the declaration or runners and supplementations will be made. There are eight French trained horses and twelve foreign ones, including the two Japanese.
As announced on Sunday, Aidan O’Brien left seven of his horses for the moment, including Winter (Galileo), only 3yo filly in the list, before Enable gets added to it. Highland Reel (Galileo), second of the Arc last year, is still entered, just like Order of St George(Galileo), third in 2016, and Al Shaqab Racing’s Doha Dream (Shamardal). The 3yos are present but in small numbers. We can count five of them, including Plumatic (Dubawi) and Al Shaqab Racing’s Brametot (Rajsaman).
Among the forfeits, we can notice that Recoletos (Whipper) finally disappeared from the list. The latter had won the Prix du Prince d’Orange (Gr3) for his seasonal debut. Second forfeits will be registered on Tuesday, at 11.30am.
