The Qatar Racing & Equestrian Club (QREC) organised two horse auctions at the indoor arena of the Qatar Equestrian Federation on Friday and Saturday, 2 and 3 November 2018. The total sale results of the two auctions amounted to QR 3,000,000.
In the Friday Auction, which was for racehorses and is also the first in the QREC 2018/2019 season, the horse with the top sale honours had a QR 300,000 price tag. This horse was the five-year old grey colt FAROOQ. He was offered by Umm Qarn and was bought by Mohammed Rashid Saif Al Kuwari. A total of 64 lots, out of 123 entered lots, were sold for a gross amount of QR 1,419,000. Some of the entered horses were not brought to the sale arena and as such were not offered.
The Second Auction was for Arabian show horses. A total of 60 lots were sold, out of 89 offered, for a total gross amount of QR 1,519,000. It was the ten-year old mare ABHA RAIPUR, who grabbed the top price in that auction with a QR 200,000 price tag. ABHA RAIPUR was offered by Al Shahania Stud and was bought by Faisal Mohammed Ali Al Kubaisi.
In all, the two auctions saw good turnout of horse owners and auction fans and the average sales were good as well.
There are several auctions scheduled for this season and QREC have formed a committee to be in charge for the organisation of such auctions.
