The Al Shaqab Racing silks were back in the winners’ enclosure for the second Group race of the day at Toulouse, France on Wednesday 23 October 2019, to land the Prix Chéri Bibi (Gr3 PA), thanks to their homebred colt SHADAD (TM Fred Texas). This was the 3-year-old’s first success, having finished in the placings on each of his four starts. He had a nice clear run before battling in the straight with his half brother GOINGFOR AL BARAKA (TM Fred Texas) and JOSKIO (JOSCO DU CAYROU) and eventually won by a head, with another head separating the second and third. SHADAD was ridden by Julien Auge in the mile-long black type race for three-year-old Arabians. That was also the second group win for Julien Auge both on the same day and in Al Shaqab Racing silks

Trainer Charles Gourdain was also responsible for the runner-up, Amjad Taiss Al Jumaily’s GOINGFOR AL BARAKA, who was ridden by Valentin Seguy this time, and who came here off a win at Bordeaux. This was Charles Gourdain’s first Group winner for the Al Shaqab silks.
