Stablemate Aaila finished runner up under Ronan Thomas.

Khalifa Bin Sheail Al Kuwari’s LUCHADOR (Holy Roman Emperor x Bride Unbridled) led a one-two for Champion Trainer Gassim Mohammad Ghazali in the UMM SALAL OAKS TRIAL (THOROUGHBREDS (3yo Fillies) (Class 2)). Hussain Abdulatif Hussain Al Emadi’s SHOW OF STRENGTH (Dark Angel x Kate The Great) had stepped up well on his comeback run when second over C&D last week, and the gelding went one better on Thursday to shed his maiden status in the THOROUGHBRED HANDICAP (Class 5) (75 & below). With Eduardo Pedroza riding the 3yo for trainer Ibrahim Saeed Ibrahim Al Malki, Show Of Strength started off in the six furlong sprint wide from gate 12 but showed enough pace to win by four and a half lengths ahead of a packed 16-strong field.

Umm Qarn’s JABIR (Al Mamun Monlau x Maleehah) was the second runner on the day to make a winning debut around the Al Rayyan Park on Thursday. Alban Elie Marie De Mieulle’s ward had shown promise in five races in France, including three finishes in the frame over C&D, and did well over the mile long PUREBRED ARABIAN MAIDEN PLATE (3 Year Old C & G) (Div2) with Ronan Thomas in the saddle. The colt won a duel at the post beating Eduardo Pedroza ridden Ginkeau by three quarters of a length.

French recruit CHALLENGE DE GHAZAL (Munjiz x Chamade De Ghazal) made a winning debut in Qatar in the first race of the day on Thursday.
