HH Sheikh Abdullah Bin Khalifa Al Thani’s Cups & Trophy Champs MAJEED and TM THUNDER STRUCK line up for big day again

Umm Qarn’s MAJEED and TM THUNDER STRUCK, winners of the H.H. Sheikh Abdullah Bin Khalifa Al Thani’s Trophy and H.H. Sheikh Abdullah Bin Khalifa Al Thani’s Cup (Gr3 PA) last season, will line up for the two races again at the QREC turf on Thursday with trainer Alban Elie Marie De Mieulle hoping to take the honours on the day.

Majeed has run just once this season and was rather found wanting when he stepped up in distance last month, finishing sixth out of seven runners, but he will have company of stablemate FAROOQ in the mile long race for 4yo and older local Purebred Arabians on Thursday.

The highest rated horse in the field is the Yousef Ben Taher Mehaoued-trained MOLHEB AL NAIF, who registered a hat-trick of wins topping a 2000m Conditions event almost a month ago. The Al Naif Racing horse had won over the C&D when he beat this field for the Qatar Silver Trophy last April.

H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Thani will have two Julian Colin Smart-trained horses in the line-up — REDA and SHE’RIS — both of whom have some creditable performances coming into Thursday’s run.

Jassim Bin Ali Al Attiyah’s RASSAN will be the only runner for Champion Trainer Jassim Mohammed Ghazali Jahromi in the race while Hassan Ali Hassan Al Matwi’s RAQEE, who has seen an incredible run of results at the QREC turf, will line up too.

Hadi Nasser Rashid Al Ramzani has entered two Al Jeryan Stud horses, including AJS ANFOWAN and AJS INTIFADAH.

In the penultimate race of the day, TM THUNDER STRUCK will look to continue his momentum, having followed up his two runner-up finishes with a win in the Qatar National Day Trophy last month. Giving him company would be stablemate SEHAB.

Smart will have SHABIH AL REEH in the race while Al Shahania Stud will have the Pierre Jehan Andre Deymonaz-saddled RASI in the mile long race for 4yo and older Purebred Arabians.

Al Jeryan Stud has AJS AL RAYYAN, winner of a 2000m turf race last month and AJS GANNAS in the race.

Zakhir Stud’s ZAMEER could also have a say having beaten TM THUNDER STRUCK and a couple of others over C&D conditions event last month.

Jassim Mohammed Ghazali Jahromi’s Derby winner EASTER DE FAUST will face a couple of her Derby competitors, including Umm Qarn’s AL KABEER, Al Shaqab Racing’s MONFARID and Zakhir Stud’s ELWAN in the H.H. Sheikh Abdullah Bin Khalifa Al Thani’s Silver Cup for 4yo Purebred Arabians. Julian Colin Smart’s maiden winner MOSAAB is also in the 2200m race, while ARBED, RAZAD and AJS DHABI among others make up the field.

The eight-race card will begin at 3:30pm.
