Khalid Rashid Al Mohannadi’s HONEY CAKE wins Prix de la Tour Saint-Jacques at ParisLongchamp

In the colours of Khalid Rashid Al Mohannadi, HONEY CAKE (IRE) (Siyouni X Pink Anemone) netted the second win of her young career at ParisLongchamp in the Prix de la Tour Saint-Jacques, a Class 2 race over seven feet for three-year-olds. In the hands of Olivier Pesleir, the bay filly was smartly a way and was keen in the early stages. Initially, Peliser looked to try to settle her in second, but she proved too free and so he let her go on into the lead. The Henri Alex Pantall-trained HONEY CAKE set a smart pace and once in the final straight, she came under pressure from Pelsier, pulling clear of her rivals before they had begun the chase. She stayed on bravely and just held off a very strong finish from FEMINA (IRE) (Siyouni x Legerete) to win by a short head. Under Maxime Guyon was the runner-up for Wertheimer & Frère and trainer C. Laffon-Parias. Ecurie Normandie Pur Sang’s RACING GLORY (IRE) (Zebedee x Glorious Adventure) was a further half-length behind the two fillies of the leading French sire Siyouni. The F. Chappet-trained bay clot was ridden by Stephane Pasquier.

HONEY CAKE was a winner at Deauville as a two-year-old. She had two starts earlier this year and both were in Stakes races over a mile where she was unable to find a place. The drop back to 1,400m today seemed to suit her. She is from the family of DOHAA DREAM (FR), the Prix Chaudenay (Gr2) winner for Al Shaqab Racing. She was bought at the Arqana Breeze-up as a two-year-old.
