Lukasek rides TOPSY TURVY to second consecutive victory

Sheikh Faisal Bin Hamad Bin Jassim Al Thani’s TOPSY TURVY (Pivotal x Helter Helter) continued his impressive run this season winning the AL WAJBA CUP (THOROUGHBREDS (Class 2)) at the Al Rayyan Park dirt track on Thursday. The Ibrahim Saeed Ibrahim Al Malki trained 8yo opened the season with a C&D victory in November before winning his second last month. Tomas Lukasek was astride the gelding once again and the two picked up a fine win with two lengths and a quarter to spare. It was Lukasek’s second winner on the day, and Al Malki’s fourth. Anas Al Seyabi rode Mohammed Nasser Al Naimi schooled Karraar (Dubawi x Maghya) to close second ahead of Deborah Amanda Clare Mountain trained Shabbab (Siyouni x Floride) under Pierantonio Convertino.ا.

Saeed Nasser Al Qadi’s ZARANDI (Scat Daddy x Zaralanta) raced to his second straight win and third this season on Thursday. All of the 4yo’s victories have been on Al Rayyan Park’s dirt track. In the THOROUGHBRED HANDICAP (Class 4) (80 & below), the Hamad Ahmed Al Malki Al Jehani trained colt continued his fruitful partnership with jockey Carlos Henrique as the two picked up a fine one length victory in the six furlong sprint.

Qatari rider Meteb Ali al-Marri rode his seventh winner of the season on Thursday. The apprentice rider was astride Dhafi Rashid Al Marri’s SUCCEED AND EXCEL (Exceed And Excel x Woodbeck) and guided the 9yo to his seventh career win. In the THOROUGHBRED HANDICAP (Class 5) (70 & below), the Mohammed Hussain Afroz schooled gelding started wide but did well at the end of it all to win the 1700m run with two lengths to spare. It was the gelding’s first win since April 2018.

In the 1700m race, Tomas Lukasek helmed the 5yo for the first time and the duo picked up a breezy four length victory.

Al Bida Racing’s COOL EXHIBIT (Showcasing x Frigid) brushed aside a forgettable Qatar debut last month to win for the first time since May 2018. Ibrahim Saeed Ibrahim Al Malki saddled gelding had won on his career debut in the UK and even had a few places before moving to these shores. On Thursday, under Leo Salles, THOROUGHBRED NOVICE PLATE (Class 6) the 4yo had little trouble to go past the post three lengths ahead of the competition.

Khalifa Bin Sheail Al Kuwari’s AL MUJAHAZ (Dutch Art x Unaided) hit the paddock at the Al Rayyan Park a couple of times since his move from France. On Thursday, the Mohammed Gassim Ghazali schooled gelding finally entered the winner’s circle for the first time topping the THOROUGHBRED MAIDEN PLATE (Class 6). In the 1700m run on dirt, the 5yo was helmed by Theo Bachelot and the duo won easily with three lengths and three quarters to spare.

Mohamed Abdulla Abdulmalik’s SEA THE LIGHT (Sea The Moon x Sterope) had shown promise on each of his five previous outings finishing in the top five each time. On Thursday, on the dirt track for the second time, Ibrahim Saeed Ibrahim Al Malki’s ward registered his maiden career win with Anas Al Seyabi guiding the 4yo to a fine two length victory in the six furlong LOCAL THOROUGHBRED MAIDEN PLATE sprint.

Al Majd Stud’s AL HINDI (Sleeping Indian x Lucilla) went one better than his last outing to shed his maiden status on Thursday. In the LOCAL THOROUGHBRED MAIDEN PLATE (3 Year Olds), Osama Omer Al Dafea trained colt had Al Moatasem Al Balushi for company for the first time in his short four race career and the two did enough in the six furlong sprint to win with a length and a half to spare.
