MURAQABAH registers season’s third sprint win with Al Dibal Cup

Khalifa Bin Sheail Al Kuwari owned MURAQABAH (Great Journey x Magic Kaldoun) registered her third C&D victory of the season, and was also the third winner on the day for Champion Trainer Jassim Mohammed Ghazali Jahromi. Ridden by Al Moatasem Al Balushi for the first time, the mare picked up a fine win in the six furlong AL DIBAL CUP (LOCAL THOROUGHBRED CONDITIONS) edging out Zuhair Mohsen Zuhair Maki trained SAAR (Footstepsinthesand x Carahill), helmed by Faleh Bughanaim, by three quarters of a length at the post. Ibrahim Saeed Ibrahim Al Malki’s ward, WAR KING (Paynter x Queensbridge), completed the top three under Anas Al Seyabi.

Ahmed Mohamad Kobeissi trained ATEEJ (AF AlBahar x Sahara Croixnoire) had finished behind Caid De L’Ardus in their last outing over C&D two weeks ago. On Wednesday, Dr. Fahad Bin Abdullah Al Attiyah & Son’s colt was in the winner’s circle for the first time since September 2017 when he had won in France. In the six furlong PUREBRED ARABIAN CONDITIONS, Tomas Lukasek helmed the 6yo to close victory, with the duo beating Hassan Ali Hassan Al Matwi’s Raqee by three quarters of a length at the post. Caid De L’Ardus completed the top three under JP Guillambert.

Meteb Ali Al Marri was the second Qatari jockey on the day to ride a winner. Bader Al Balushi trained BINT SAFFIAN (Arcano x Saffian) had offered more in her third place finish in a maiden last time out. On Wednesday, the Al Azraq Stable filly was in devastating form under the apprentice rider in the six furlong THOROUGHBRED HANDICAP (Fillies & Mares) (Class 5) taking her first career victory on her eighth outing with eight lengths to spare at the post.

Hassan Ali Alabdumalik’s ALIZOOM (Invincible Spirit x Lady Springbank) registered his third career win and first this season on Wednesday. In the THOROUGHBRED HANDICAP (Class 5) (75 & below), the Deborah Amanda Clare Mountain’s charge had Tomas Lukasek in the saddle for the very first time and the two did enough in the 1700m run to hold off favourites El Patron and Lo De Nalane on the home straight to win by three quarters of a length.

Zakhir Stud’s DIJLAH ZAKHIR (Munahis x Marikitah) made it back to the winner’s circle for the first time in over a year on Wednesday. The filly was the second straight winner on the day for champion trainer Jassim Mohammed Ghazali Jahromi, with Al Moatasem Al Balushi guided the 5yo to a close quarter of a length victory over Damien Morin ridden Khor Al Adaid in the 1700m PUREBRED ARABIAN HANDICAP (75 & below).

Qatari jockey Ali Khalid Al Mosallam raced his second winner of the season when the apprentice rider helmed Jassim Mohammed Ghazali Jahromi trained NOBLE ANCESTRY (Dubawi x Joys Of Spring) in the THOROUGHBRED MAIDEN PLATE (Class 6). Owned by Mansoor Ebrahim Al Mahmoud, the gelding led a one-two for the champion trainer in the 1900m run and took advantage of a big weight advantage to beat Mathieu Pelletan ridden Verstappen by two lengths at the post.

Ibrahim Saeed Ibrahim Al Malki trained TEXAS (TM Fred Texas x Al Moqawama) had shown promise over sprints earlier this season with runner up finishes but had yet to enter the winner’s circle in 10 previous attempts. On Wednesday, stepping up in distance for the 1700m PUREBRED ARABIAN MAIDEN PLATE (Fillies & Mares), the Al Bidaa Stud owned filly did enough under Jimmy Quinn to edge out Faleh Bughanaim helmed Wadha PY by three quarters of a length in their home straight duel.

Injaaz Stud’s AL HUWAILAH (Samum x Medinella) had been placed a couple of times over C&D coming into Wednesday’s race, even as a win had eluded the filly. Trainer by Mohammed Jassim Ghazali Jahromi, the 5yo had JP Guillambert in the saddle and she bounced back with a maiden victory in the six furlong LOCAL THOROUGHBRED MAIDEN PLATE with a truly dominant 12 lengths to spare at the post.
