Qatar Racing Limited’s RIOT shed his maiden tag on Friday 6 September 2019, when won the British Stallion Studs EBF Novice Stakes at Kempton, UK. The 2-year-old colt by KINGMAN had run three times for three second places earlier. On Friday, RIOT overturned the trend, winning his maiden by a neck under jockey Oisin Murphy. He tracked the leaders throughout this seven-furlong race before moving up easily to take the lead. He won comfortably belying the short winning margin and justifying his favourite status. The Cheveley Park Stud-owned and Sir Michael Stoute-trained JEAN BAPTISTE was second under Ryan Moore. The M Clarke, P Munnelly & D Waters and Richard Hughes-trained KARIBANA was further three quarters of a length behind under Shane Kelly.

RIOT is trained by John Gosden, and was bought as a yearling at the Goffs Orby Yearling Sale. He was the third 2-year-old maiden winner of the day for Qatar Racing Limited.
