The QREC Farrier Section is dedicated to providing a prompt and professional service to all equine shoeing needs at the Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club (QREC) in Al-Rayyan, as well as Al-Uqda Training Center and Racetrack in Al-Khor, the Breeding Farm in Al Zubara and the QREC Ridding school. In total, we oversea the hoof maintenance and care of over 1,100 horses. These services range from standard shoeing to corrective shoeing, trauma and diseases of the hoof and are often provided in conjunction with the QREC Veterinary Hospital. Our central base of operation is our main office and workshop within the QREC which has an enclosed trot up area and five shoeing bays. Ou staff are also spread out to stables where the horses are shod in their own stables.

The trot-up area is to insure that the horses to be serviced are sound by observing their gate and action during the trot. Should there be any doubt in the farrier mind regarding the soundness of the horse, the trainer is informed and the necessary steps are taken. This could involve the QREC Veterinary Hospital in conjunction with the Farrier Section.

The protocol also requires every horse to be trotted up after being shod to insure the horse is comfortable and sound as when it arrived. Comfort, support and balance are key to maintaining good Equine Hoof heath. There is an old saying “No foot. No horse” and this is so true.

The products we use are of the highest quality and standard. Kerckhaert horse shoes are our product of choice and Kerckhaert are world leader in the Equine Hoof product services industry.
