Wrapping up the seven-race card meeting conducted on dirt at Al Uqda Racecourse on Saturday, 13th January 2024, the Khalifa Hassan Al-Jehani-owned and Owaida Salem Al Hajri-trained Account (GB) (Acclamation x Miliika) returned quickly to winning ways, recording a pillar-to-post victory in the day’s feature. Under jockey Alberto Sanna, the five-year-old gelding took the 2000m Thoroughbred Handicap for four-year-olds and older horses rated 70-90 by half a length, landing the Lisha Cup. The Al Rufaa Racing-owned and Gassim Ghazali-trained Flaming Lord (GB) (Zarak) finished second under jockey Marco Casamento. The Abdulrahman Batal A A Al-Otibi-owned and Mohammed Ali Al Saaq-trained Court Poet (GB) (Dubawi) completed the frame, finishing third as he was further one and a half lengths one and a half lengths behind under jockey Rashid Ali Al-Marri. QREC Racing Manager, Abdulla Rashid Al Kubaisi, crowned the winners.

The Three Quarter Racing-owned 5YO Nafees Al Shahania (QA) (Harran ASF x Al Nefor) got the meeting off to an impressive start in winning the 1300m Class 6 Local Purebred Arabian Maiden Plate for four-to-six-year-olds by one and a half lengths under jockey Hamed Al Busaidi and shedding his maiden tag for trainer Mohammed Ghazali at the third attempt.

The 1300m Class 6 Local Thoroughbred Maiden Plate for four-to-six-year-olds went to the Al Wasmiyah Farm-owned and Georges Mikhalides-trained 4YO Al Jalilah (QA) (Danadana x Spring Fashion), who stormed home under jockey Jefferson Smith to eventually prevail by one and a half lengths, getting off the mark on her second career start and first appearance this season.

One of the best performances of the day came in the 1300m Class 6 Purebred Arabian Maiden Plate for four-to-six-year-old fillies and mares, where the Khalifa Bin Sheail KH J Al Kuwari-owned and Julian Smart-trained Simaismah (FR) (AF AlBahar x Opale Du Croate) flew home to emphatically take the race by six lengths with Samuel Legrix in the saddle. In doing so, the 5YO mare confirmed the promising start of her career. She had only two starts earlier and was placed in both of them.

The same owner and trainer of the previous race, Khalifa Bin Sheail KH J Al Kuwari and Julian Smart, made it two in quick succession as Khatar Des Forges (FR) (No Risk Al Maury x Djamaa Des Forges) doubled his tally when the 5YO gelding took the 2000m Class 5 Purebred Arabian Novice Plate for four-year-olds and older. It was also a double on the day for jockey Jefferson Smith, who stole a march on the field, kicking clear in the final 200m, eventually prevailing by four and a half lengths.

Owner Ahmed Hassan Al Malki Al Jehani and trainer Hamad Al-Jehani got their names on the scoresheet in the 2000m Class 4 Thoroughbred Handicap for four-year-old and older horses rated 60-80 when their colt Billabong (GB) (Oasis Dream x Carding), ridden by Tomas Lukasek, got off the mark on sixth career start, winning comfortably by two lengths.

Trainer Hamad Al-Jehani and jockey Tomas Lukasek were quickly back in the winners’ enclosure, completing a quick-fire double after the Class 3 Thoroughbred Handicap for three-year-olds and older horses rated 70-90 as they teamed up with the Mohammed Hamad H A Al-Jehani-owned Tilaawah (GB) (Showcasing x Lady Estella) to maintain his good form and take the 1300m race by one and a half lengths.
