Carrying the colours of H.E. Sheikha Iman bint Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Thani, Fayq Al Shahania (FR) (Jaafer ASF x Cherazade) extended his productive 2023/24 campaign with a second win in a row in the feature and final race of the bumper-11 race card conducted on turf at QREC Al Rayyan on Thursday, 18th April 2024. Saddled by trainer Rudy Nerbonne, the 5YO landed the Msheireb Cup, a 1500m Class 2 Purebred Arabian Handicap for 4YO+ horses rated (85-105), comfortably by one and a half lengths, completing a double on the card for jockey Soufiane Saadi. The Sheikh Ahmad bin Mohamed F N Al-Thani-owned and Mohammed Salama Ashour-trained Safi Al Zaman (FR) (AF AlBahar) landed the minor honours under jockey Jefferson Smith. The Mohammed bin Fahad A H Al Attiya-owned and Mohammed Ghazali-trained Broog (FR) (AF AlBahar) finished half a length further behind in third under jocky Giuseppe Cultraro. Abdulaziz Jassim Al Boenain, Al Uqda Complex Manager, crowned the winners.

Taymoor Al Shahania

On his second career start, the Al Bida Racing-owned Taymoor Al Shahania (Asraa Min Albarq x Etimaad) kicked off the meeting with an impressive win, storming to victory in the 1400m Class 6 Purebred Arabian Maiden Plate for 3YOs, outpacing the competition. It was a dazzling performance by the bay colt who took the 1400m race by five lengths and three quarters for trainer Mohamed Khaled Elahmed and jockey Saleh Salem Al-Marri.

Khalil Du Croate

The 2350m Class 6 Purebred Arabian Maiden Plate for 4-6YOs saw the Julian Smart-trained Khalil Du Croate (FR) (No Risk Al Maury x Beanie Du Croate) stay on well throughout, in the colours of, Khalifa Bin Sheail Al Kuwari, under jockey Muanis Al Siyabi and draw two lengths clear of the field by the winning post.

Sobheya Umm Fadi

There was another impressive performance in the 1600m Class 6 Maiden Plate for 3YO Purebred Arabian fillies. Sabhea Awad Ibrahim’s v Sobheya Umm Fadi (QA) (Alam Al Khalediah x Bint Al Akaber) galloped her rivals into the ground to win by brilliant nine lengths under jockey Anas Al Seyabi for trainer Ibrahim Khaled Elahmed, who was also recording his second win of the meeting. It was the chestnut filly’s second career attempt and she had finished third on debut.

E'Zz

In the 1400m Class 6 Local Thoroughbred Maiden Plate for 3-6YOs, it was the Al Wasmiyah Farm-owned E'Zz (QA) (Trade Storm x Granary) who shed his maiden status for trainer Georges Mikhalides. Under jockey Jefferson Smith, the four-year-old stayed on strongly up the straight to defeat his nearest rival by one and a half lengths.

Stunt Game

Jockey Szczepan Mazur timed his challenge to perfection in the Class 5 Thoroughbred Novice Plate for 3YO+ as the Yousuf Mubarak Al Kuwari-owned Stunt Game (IRE) (Dandy Man x Rathbride Raven) came fast to pip the Nibras Racing Syndicate-owned and Abdulla Al-Mulla-trained Desert Games (IRE), who was ridden by Jefferson Smith, on the line. Trained by Hamad Al Jehani, the four-year-old quickened up well to scythe through the field and get up in the final strides by just a short head.

Al Yateema

Trainer Hamad Al Jehani chalked up a quick-fire double as he saddled the Nasser Saif Al Kubaisi-owned Al Yateema (QA) (Dandy Man x Bluebell Park) to a one and a quarter length victory in the 1500m Class 4 Local Thoroughbred Handicap for 3YO+ horses rated (45-65). Lukas Delozier was the man in the saddle.

Chorus Line

The 1500m Class 4 Thoroughbred Handicap for 3YO+ horses rated (65-85) saw a very close finish indeed, with three horsed separated by just a short head and a head, but it was the Mohammed Khamis Eisa Al-Kaabi-owned and trained Chorus Line (GB) (Territories x Angelic Note), who who showed the best acceleration to pip her rivals at the post, giving jockey Muanis Al Siyabi a second winner on the card. The Al Thumama Racing-owned and Saleh Naji SH A Al Yafei-trained Glengarra (IRE) (Profitable) finished second under jockey Saleh Naji SH A Al Yafei. The Abdulrahman Batal A A Al-Otibi-owned and Nayef Batal Al-Otibi-trained Court Poet (GB) (Dubawi) completed the frame in third under jockey Maikon De Souza.

Arman

Wathnan Racing’s Arman (QA) (Amer x Qatar Sun) recorded his second straight win on his fourth career start. As he had done last time out, the Alban de Mieulle-trained 4YO colt made all and recorded a pillar-to-post victory. Under jockey Soufiane Saadi, the grey son of Amer did not allow any of his rivals to come near him and stormed to land a well-deserved victory by three and a half lengths.

Classic Order

The Class 3 Thoroughbred Handicap for 4YO+ horses rated(75-95), run over 1750m, saw the Hamad bin Abdulrahman bin Hamad Al Attiya-owned Classic Order (GB) (No Nay Never x Discipline) take the spoils by just a quarter of a length in what was a competitive race, giving trainer Zuhair Mohsen and jockey Mohammed Tabti a winner on the card.

Kerindia

Injaaz Stud’s Kerindia (IRE) (Cotai Glory x Coursing) continued her excellent 2023/24 campaign with a third straight victory in the 1400m Class 2 Thoroughbred Plate for 3YO+ fillies and mares. The four-year-old filly quickened clear of her rivals impressively in the straight under jockey Faleh Bughanaim to make all and win impressively by the five and a half lengths, completing a quick-fire double for trainer Zuhair Mohsen in the evening.
